For this essay I have to write about the Popol Vuh, there are different propmts I could do but I chose The Moral of the Story Is… and this is what the prompt has to have: As we have begun to see, the Popol Vuh is representative of a highly distinct culture from Western society and as a result can often be difficult for readers to follow. What, in your opinion, is most distinctive about the narrative structure of the Popul Vuh? What do you believe was the ultimate purpose of the story for classical Mayans themselves? Do you ever find yourself disheartened by the good guys? Sympathetic towards the bad guys? To what extent does the Popol Vuh teach ethical lessons? What values and beliefs seem to be promoted by the many plotlines found in the tale?
