Margaret and Claudia Margaret and Claudia, a lesbian couple, are fostering/adopting 2 children from a County adoption program. They are required to seek family counseling as part of the adoption process. The children are siblings, two boys ages 2 and 3. The boys were removed from their birth family 1 year ago due to severe neglect and child endangerment. During your intake session with the couple present only, you discover that Margaret was raised in a foster home due to sexual abuse in her family of origin. She claims to have overcome the trauma she endured. Claudia was raised in an intact family, but reveals that her father was a physically abusive alcoholic. Both Margaret and Claudia deny having a substance or domestic abuse problem, though you detect the odor of alcohol on Margarets breath. In the second session, the children are present.
