Each student will prepare an independent research report based upon the diversity of musical performances available in a large urban center. The report (c. 750 words) must reflect a clear structure, organized materials, and personal insights. Students will be ready to explain their methodology, their analyses and conclusions. NB Once the chosen urban center is identified and approved by the instructor, the student research must include the following information: 1. The name and location of the performance venues (a minimum of six). all venues must be in the same city. 2. The musical genre that is usually performed (e.g., Classical, Jazz, Rock, Musical, Opera, etc.,). 3. At least one program from each venue listing the titles of the compositions, the names of the composers and performers, and other relevant program notes. 4. The students attendance to at least one event that will include mention of the students personal reactions and the audiences reaction and demeanor.
