Acme Inc. is a small business employing 40 employees. The company has 25 desktops in use, 20 laptops in use, 10 iPads and each employee will need a guest wireless connection for their cellular telephones. The company was housed at a site that provided all of the networking. There was also technical support (provided by the company that owned the building) available to assist with networking issues as they arose. The company is now relocating and has purchased land for a new building. Your task is to plan for networking at the new site. They will need to purchase all necessary equipment to network. This includes all wiring, switches, jacks, routers, wireless access points and etcetera. An estimate for a broadband, business class, internet connection is also needed. The broadband connection will need to provide at least 10Mbps download speeds. Be sure to get quotes from at least 3 providers (2 providers will be chosen at a later date to ensure redundancy is established). The new site has wireless signal strength issues so be sure to address that in your plan for the network. You will need to be sure that you plan for ensuring the equipment has reliable power and has at least 2 systems in place to address power issues. A job description will also need to be created so that a person can be hired to manage the new site once it has been setup. The person that is hired will be a network administrator.
