Phase I: Intelligence-Led Policing Description & Overview Phase I of this project asks that you research and describe how your agency uses intelligence-led policing. You can write a broad paper that describes how your agency uses ILP-driven strategies generally. You can write a more focused paper that describes how your agency uses ILP to combat a particular crime issue or crime problem. Or, you could combine both approaches describing how your agency uses ILP, illustrated by specific examples. If your agency does not use ILP, propose an ILP-driven strategy for your agency. Describe how ILP and data-driven approaches could address a particular challenge facing your community. Regardless of your substantive approach, this phase of the project will be three to three-and-a-half double-spaced pages with standard fonts and margins. Moreover, this phase of the project should demonstrate an active understanding of ILP driven by empirical evidence. Make sure that you link your agencys ILP strategies with cutting-edge best practices by citing, discussing, and quoting relevant module material and resources as appropriate. Phase II: Efficacy Evaluation: Crime Data & Data Analysis For this assignment, you will assess the efficacy of your agencys intelligence-led policing strategies. This phase of the project will be three to three-and-a-half double-spaced pages in length with standard fonts and margins. Evaluate the effectiveness of the intelligence-led policing strategies that you described in Phase I. Are the existing ILP strategies effective? Are parts of the existing models effective? Present evidence and analysis to support your evaluation. Use whatever data display, data analysis and crime data sources that best support your efficacy analysis. If your agency does not use ILP and you have written an ILP proposal, describe how this proposal should be evaluated for efficacy. Describe the crime data that would be used to evaluate the problem, and the statistical procedures that would evaluate if your proposal is having a meaningful impact on the problem.
