This research project is designed for each of you to investigate one type of crime and its impact on people. Your topic must be decided upon today in class. You must pick your topic in one of these crimes: sexual assault, domestic violence, homicide, terrorism, human trafficking, or cyber-crime. Your paper must address each of these areas (meaning you can write up to one to two pages for each of these areas): 1. Identify who are the victims of your crime. 2. Identify a victim theory that tells why certain individuals are victim of this crime you can also introduce a new victimology theory you will / have found in your research approved by Dr. Hueston 3. Delineate Texas state laws involving victims of this crime over the past decade and then identify any pending or future legislation involving victims of this type of crime 4. Describe in detail how media and social media impact victims involved in this crime 5. Based upon your research, describe how would you improve the types of victim services made available to these types of crime victims in our area 6. Other pertinent points you deem appropriate Your paper needs to be typed, double spaced, minimum of 12 point font. Your paper needs to be at a minimum of 8 10 pages long,( 8 pages of research not graphs, tables, and reference information!). Your paper should be cited in APA style. If you do NOT know how to cite in APA let me know. You should have a minimum of 10 references cited in your research paper. Grading rubric: (I expect excellent spelling and grammar in each of your papers, grammar and spelling errors will be considered in giving your final grade.) A = exceed all minimum page requirements and APA references, plus evidence of extensive research covering all of these areas plus numerous individual interviews. Evidence of critical thinking on how to improve existing victim services is critical with validation shown through excellent research
