“The role of women in Islam has always been a topic of controversy. From the outside looking in, one might consider the females of the religion to be oppressed. The goal of this paper is to examine the differences in the men and women of the Islamic faith, as well as analyze the upholding of varying Islamic customs of women in different cultures around the world and how these customs are portrayed. It will also analyze the Qurans teachings on women and the different historical and current prominent women of differing Islamic backgrounds that have held powerful positions as Spiritual, Political, and Socio-economic leaders.”
