Satire uses humor, exaggeration, irony, and comparison to make an argument. Usually satire involves using an exaggerated example, or arguing the opposite position in an exaggerated way to show the flaws in that position. Satire also uses irony, which is when someone says one thing while really meaning something else.
For example, when a student asks if class will be ending early, and the teacher says I feel so valued and loved! Satire sometimes draws a humorous comparison to something unrelated to show how the same arguments apply. Now that you have written an argument essay for your chosen topic, write a new essay on the same topic using satire: humor, an extreme example, or a comparison to illustrate your point.
