Write a short research paper on an issue that sparked interest in you that emerged from what you saw and tie that to how the issue impacts a specific group of people. In other words, an intersectional piece that engages a larger subject (examples could be: racism and the workplace, mass incarceration and women, children and immigration, mental health and Trans folx, substance abuse and the elderly, etc..)
Write a minimum of 10 page research paper (excluding the title and reference pages). The paper must conform to APA style guidelines. You must cite at least 8 scholarly sources in this paper such as textbooks, journal articles, (only 2 of these 10 sources may be internet sources such as websites or blogs, and Wikipedia is not an acceptable source). The paper is due in its entirety on the final day of class. This research paper should represent the your best writing and discuss:
A specific problem within the chosen topic
An explanation of how the issue/problem relates to social work/welfare
What are the psychosocial factors pertinent to such an issue
What social workers do or could do to help (what interventions are used)
A discussion of the relevance of cultural diversity (i.e., race, gender, class, sexual orientation, religion, sexual orientation, etc.)
