For this paper, you will need to focus on Race and Ethnicity.
Prompt: Why is race and ethnicity still a factor in the Mississippi Delta. What are the differences that each of these have faced in this area and how do they differ? Think in terms of your own life and incorporate your own experiences. How can we make things better, or do you think things will never change?
In this paper there are a few things that you need to incorporate into each body paragraph:
1) Where does race fit in?
2) Why is classism/racism an issue?
3) How does this personally influence your life?
To Start:
1) Form a thesis. Find a specific aspect of social class that interests you. Form the main point that you would like to get across from your paper using this. It should be in sentence form.
2) Make a plan of development. List a few things that you would like to go over in this paper. The rule of thumb for this is usually one major point and two to three minor points for each body paragraph.
3) Write. Get out any of your thoughts on to paper. You can always cut words and consolidate ideas.
4) Edit. Peer review papers. Ask a friend to read over your work. Make sure that points are clear and that your wording is legible to other people.
5) Polish. Clean up your paper, review your work and read over your final draft before the final turn in. Make sure there are no grammatical/ spelling errors and that you haven’t left anything out.
Paper Setup:
The format of this paper should be MLA. The font should be Times New Roman and the size should be 12. This paper is to be double spaced.
The body of the paper should be two full pages long. With the headings and reference, you should be at around two and a half pages in length. Also, if the paper is less than two pages, it will not be considered for grading. (The easiest way to go about this paper is using the five paragraph essay format.)
The heading for your paper should include your Name, Course Name/ Course Period, Instructor’s Name, and Due Date, each on a separate line and placed to the left hand side of the page. Following this, you should have a Title for your paper placed in the center of the page. Following this title should begin the essay.
