Once again, we will be analyzing the team dynamics at Initech; however, instead of looking at it from an individual level as we did in Case 1, we’ll look at teams and leaders as both explanations for behavior and as a basis for a plan to improve team behavior. The case describes the Initech team members as working at a “frantic pace,” putting out “tactical fires” and feeling pressured. The focus on the day-to-day operations was taking energy from considering strategic, “big picture” issues. But, this focus didn’t happen in a vacuum — the team is guided by leaders.
