TOPIC- West Coast Hotel Co. v. Parrish, 300 U.S. 379 (1937) (economic substantive due process)
Write a 5000 word paper (approximately 15-20 pages) about the case where you follow it from its initiation in the lower courts through to its conclusion in the Supreme Court.
Paper must go in this order.
1. You should explain the facts that lead to the lawsuit (explaining who the plaintiffs and defendants are and the legal basis of the original case),
2. the decision of the trial court, the basis of the first appeal, the decision of the appellate court, the basis of the appeal to the US Supreme Court, and its decision.
3. When discussing the cases, you should include information regarding the legal precedent/doctrine surrounding the case (what similar cases are used by the courts), whether there are concurrences/dissents and why these judges reasoned differently than the majority, and a conclusion where you critique the Supreme Courts decision (does it adequately reason from precedent. Adequately reason for the overruling of precedent, or anything else you feel is relevant.
