Performance Enhancement Paper/Presentation (50 points) As future professionals in the exercise and sport professions, you may find it useful to have a variety of performance enhancement techniques at your disposal as they will help you improve the performance of the teams/organizations you may be leading in the future. Sport psychologists are often called upon to give a talk to a group of athletes on a particular topic. In constructing such talks, it is important to be able to draw from the scientific literature while still connecting with your audience this is not an easy task. To help build your skills in this area and to help you understand an area of sport psychology/performance enhancement in greater depth, you will be asked to research a particular topic and write a coherent paper using the scientific literature. It is important that you find reliable sources for this assignment. Texts can be found at the library or, in some cases, borrowed from myself or other faculty members. Please see me if you have trouble. You will need to turn in the following:1.A 10-15+ page paper (double-spaced, 1 margins, and 12-point font).2.Place your opening story at the start…cite your source for the story if possible.3.Most specifically, review the state of knowledge in your particular area. Use multiple sources.4.Review the 2 studies you are going to cover in your talk with good depth (e.g., 2-3 pages each).5.Review intervention strategies and how they have worked try to be specific to the population you are trying to help. (There may be some overlap with points 4 and 5 here).6.A reference list with a minimum of 10 sources (bibliography). Only TWO of these sources can be websites and none of the 10 can be a citation from class! NO EXCEPTIONS you will need to use the library. Please use APA format for your reference list.***7.In your paper, cite references to scholarly work in the text, as appropriate. Again, use APA format. The articles we are reading in class every day are a good guide in this respect (most use APA style).8.Include any worksheets or handouts that you will give during your presentation after your reference section.9.Poor spelling or use of grammatical technique will adversely affect your grade. Check your work.***Acceptable sources of information:You may (or may not) cite one expert individual (an expert coach, scientist, etc.), may (or many not) cite class readings only if you have cited at least 10 non-course articles, and two websites (try to determine the legitimacy of this site). Regardless, you MUST cite SEVEN scientifically-grounded texts (books), review articles, or research articles in scientific journals. Please see me if you are having a difficult time finding information. It is a good idea to show your sources to me before you go too far.Your paper will be graded on the basis of completing the above requirements satisfactorily, presenting a comprehensive discussion of your chosen topic, writing in a well-developed, logical manner, and effective use of grammar, spelling and APA style.
