This paper will be about tasers in law enforcement and how they are used and integrated into it. In addition to use of the text, the research MUST integrate at least TWO primary sources that are journal articles. Related articles can be found by doing a search using the Lamson Library resources or utilizing the Mindtap Questia resource, which has access to relevant journal articles. Papers not meeting this requirement will lose half the total points. Use of official websites (BJS, UCR, NCJRS, DOJ, etc.) for informational purposes are allowed and strongly encouraged, however, their use does not constitute credit for using journal articles.
Papers must adhere to the following instructions:
Papers MUST be submitted as a Microsoft Word document NOT WORD PERFECT, and NOT a pdf; if you do not know the difference, please find out the difference. If you submit anything other than a word document it is as if you didn’t submit any paper at all and it will be scored a ZERO.
These papers should be no larger than 12-point font, doublespaced; with no extra spaces between paragraphs.
Margins should be one inch on the top and one and a half at the bottom, 1.25 on the sides and spell checked for correctness. The formatting is standard so dont change anything on MS normal template.
The research paper must be original work directly relevant to the course. Proper citations must be given using accepted citation formats, and the paper must contain the following sections though other sections can also be included:
Introduction: Introduce the topic and explain the purpose of the paper.
Issue Identification: Identify a problem.
Background: Provide a short factual overview.
Analysis: A reasoned discussion of the problem.
Conclusion: Your conclusion after evaluating the problem.
Please use appropriate subheadings to identify the various sections of your paper.
It will be considered formal writing so proper grammar, citation of sources, clarity, conciseness, and style will be rewarded accordingly.
Use of the textbook is mandatory as a resource but doesnt eliminate the two-article requirement.
Citation of ALL sources is an absolute requirement even if it comes from the course textbooks.
Citations MUST be done in the American Psychological Association (APA) citation style. If you do not know how to do this, refer to the Maxwell Library for How to Cite Sources or check the Moodle site for additional resources to help you. Additional citation assistance are provided on the course Moodle page.
