Opposite Position Essay. Your opposite argument essay will be 3-4 pages. The essay must follow all MLA rules for citation and formatting, must cite at least two reliable resources, and must include a works cited page (that does not count as one of your 3-4 pages). We are arguing against the solution that you will present in your major paper. Here is an outline format for how you could write this paper.Introduction–catch the readers attention before supplying a clear thesis statement. Your thesis statement might use the following format.

Body–prove that the problem exists and explain its significance. This section might include some history of the problem. It might also highlight a major cause or a couple major causes of the problem.
Body–briefly explain the other sides solution. Remember that the other side is actually the side that you agree with; its the side that you will argue for in your major paper.
Body–briefly explain your solution; in this paper, your solution is the solution that you dont agree with.
Body–present the first point of the other sides argument and then explain why your solution is better.
Body–present the second point of the other sides argument and then explain why your solution is better.
Body–present the third point of the other sides argument and then explain why your solution is better.
Conclusion–revisit the thesis statement, summarize the body, revisit the hook from your intro
