Research Paper: One of the objectives of this class is to help you more critically assess sociological research on sport and to develop your own skill in asking similar questions. The research paper is designed to help you assess a particular topic, design future directions for research, and describe how you would execute such research. The paper is a research proposal; a basic literature review is not sufficient for this assignment. The paper should be 15-ish double-spaced pages (not including references). See detailed handout and example on the “Assignments, Samples, and Tips” page of the Content tab. Papers that do not include all of the required components will receive an automatic zero. Other writing sins that will result in an automatic zero include but are not limited to citing Wikipedia, including anecdotes, and using authors first names in the text. FAMILIARIZE YOURSELF WITH THE WRITING DOCUMENT PROVIDED ON BLACKBOARD THAT OUTLINES THESE ISSUES.
