tudents will create and write their own public policy proposal for children/families (8-10 page report) based on the guidelines provided. A policy proposal is not the same thing as a policy paper. A proposal is prepared to present to public policy makers in order to advocate for changes or new policies that better serve the needs of children and families. Begin with a current public policy. Look through the NAEYC public policy web site, review the Federal Government’s policy website, or look at your State’s public policy website. This project must address a public policy that affects children and families. All submissions must include the rough drafts. This week’s work is a rough draft. It will not be the final edit of this portion of the assignment. An executive summary is just that. It is the summary of the proposal. So while you are beginning here with the executive summary, it will be a rough draft. You will not polish up and refine your executive summary until the policy proposal is complete and you go back to edit and revise your executive summary. Week to be completed Section Should contain the following: Week 2 Executive Summary 1. A statement of current policy 2. Reasons for initiation changes 3. Policy options to be considered (Links to an external site.)
