That is, do the social values ?built into aphorisms like “money is the root of all evil” have a measurable effect on how people use money? Moreover, do such concepts lead certain people to feel differently about how they use money? For example, are humanitarian uses of money by Bill Gates still seen as positive despite the fact that his money comes from actions that have negative consequences (silicon mining, etc.)?
