Preservice Elementary Teachers’ Beliefs About Teaching Socioscientific Issues

“Empirical Research Study Proposal. Note: this is not a real dissertation proposal but a final paper for a science education methods course that mimics such a task. In this study proposal, you are going to use relevant literature to justify an empirical study based on your interest and experiences of science teaching in the semester. It is designed to help you (1) learn how to justify the importance of a study with specific research questions that are based on relevant professional literature in science education, (2) use a proper theoretical framework to articulate the research questions that your study is striving to address, (3) situate your research questions in the gaps of relevant empirical studies in the literature, (4) design an overall data analysis plan for answer each of your research questions based on relevant methodology literature, (5) initial findings for each research question. This proposal looks pretty much like a miniature of your dissertation proposal in its format but it should not exceed 2000 words like a typical AERA (see pages 4-6 of “2020 AERA Call for Submissions_1”) or NARST (see page 10 of “2019_NARST_Call_for_Proposals_v3″). You are encouraged to develop it to a full paper. It is due on Friday, November 6th.” Since the client is still collecting preliminary data, the writer’s responsibility will be to complete every section of this proposal as outlined in the AERA and NARST pages mentioned above MINUS the “Results and/or substantiated conclusions or warrants for arguments/point of view” (from page 4 of “2020 AERA Call for Submissions_1”).
