Multiple Source Argument

General InstructionsUsing one of the literary texts we have read and discussed this semester, take an important topic from the text and explain its current societal relevance in an essay of at least 1000 words supported with academic source material. The goal of the project is not to argue that something–a particular practice such as abortion (“Hills Like White Elephants”)–is right or wrong. The goal is to explore an issue’s current relevance and implications, take a stance on that issue, and provide ways of addressing that issue.Specific InstructionsSelect a topic addressed in one of the texts we have read and determine a current issue related to that topicConduct research to understand the current societal relevance of that issueWrite a paper that 1) explains the issue in the context of the short story or poem, 2) provides information about the issue in relation to the present day, 3) argues why the issue should be addressed, and 4) provides ways of addressing the issueAdditional GuidelinesEssays must be written around a clearly stated thesis statement that includes a claim and reasonsEssays must incorporate source material from at least 3 peer-reviewed sourcesEssays should be written in MLA styleEssays must be turned in on Canvas and submitted as a hard copy
