Read The Invention of Tradition by Eric Hobsbawm and Terence Ranger and write two 4-5 page essays. Your two 4-5 page essays should be typed, double-spaced, with standard fonts and margins. When making your arguments, use parenthetical references (The Invention, 67) in order to refer to specific facts, examples, ideas, etc. from their study. Be sure to spell-check and proof-read your essay. On the History Department web page, click on Student Services and then use the Departments writing and referencing guidelines for questions about proper format, rules of grammar, etc. when composing your essays. It is not necessary to consult outside books and readings for this assignment, although you may do so if you wish. Each essay is worth 150 points (300 total).
