The nature-nurture debate is more often associated with the topic of IQ than nearly any other. It is clear that both nature and nurture affect our intellectual development, but the specifics are often lacking with regard to the environmental variables that are important. Psychological variables, such as parental attention or early introduction to reading, are clearly influential. However, features of the physical environment can play a role as well. Identify three physical environmental factors that might influence intellectual development and describe how each might create its positive or negative effect. Further, how might these factors differ for poor or impoverished children versus those in the middle class.
