Make an argument that is based on careful reasoning and your current assessment of the evidence presented in the readings and discussed in lectures. DO NOT use any outside sources for this assignment.2. Be selective in what you write. Don’t try to summarize everything you read and hear in the course up to December 5th. Your paper should be more analytical than descriptive.3. Express yourself predominantly in your own words. An occasional brief quotation from the readings or lectures is acceptable if it’s properly cited but don’t organize your paper around a string of quotes.5. Stay close to the 4-6 page limit. If you go significantly beyond the limit, I may choose to base your grade only on the first 4-6 pages.6. You may use the citation style with which you are most familiar. Historians generally use Chicago style, but other widely recognized styles (e.g. MLA, APA) are acceptable if done accurately and consistently.
