Assignment:
This semester, our research essay will focus on Jesmyn Wards 2011 novel Salvage the Bones. You will develop your own questions to guide the research. The essay must incorporate a minimum of three secondary sources. These can be books or articles from academic journals. Other sources, such as interviews or newspaper articles, may be included as extra sources.
Throughout the research process, you will submit five pieces of work: research questions (10 points), a working bibliography (10 points), a draft introduction (10 points), a rough draft (10 points), and final draft (200 points).
You may choose to focus on any of the following topics or develop your own:
Salvage the Bones as a coming-of-age novel
Greek mythology in Salvage the Bones
Wards depiction of Hurricane Katrina
Salvage the Bones as a counter narrative
