These papers should dive deeply into the text and flush out any possible tensions/contradictions/puzzles through an exegetical approach. These should not be summaries or book reviews. Rather, well-written papers will focus on what you take to be the most interesting or problematic aspect of the text by assessing an argument within the text. I am interested in reading what you find to be logically/philosophically/politically problematic within the text. No secondary sources are required for these papers. You have the freedom to write on any of the readings covered in the course or to highlight tensions/affinities between readings by exploring thematic issues.
