Unit Three: Intricacies of Designing a Program Unit Three Introduction Designing a program or course has many interrelated elements, such as classroom settings and modes of instruction; structural characteristics; and creating program/course goals, objectives, and evaluation. Participants, organizational settings, content, and implementation need to be simultaneously incorporated into course planning. The selection of teaching and learning activities will be influenced by your original research into the course topic and the situational factors, course objectives, and assessment plans associated with your course design. Once you have designed your course, you will continually refine it with new course objectives, teaching activities, resources, and assessment measures. Your goal is to develop the best possible class, course, or program that you can, but inevitably, there will be changes during the course and afterward. Program design involves the joy of creating and meeting the challenges of change. There are many things to consider when preparing to implement a course. Thus, it is helpful to have a plan for integrating learning objectives, teaching-learning activities, ways to assess learning, and helpful resources. Arrange for reading materials while considering the amount, reading level, and cost of materials. Selecting and incorporating different teaching methods add variety and interest. Attention should be given to facilitating interaction among participants. During and after presenting course content in various ways, it is important to gain feedback on how you can improve your teaching and better involve learners. 3.1 Text/Media Textbook: Family Life Education: Working with Families across the Life Span Media Link: Forever Families https://foreverfamilies.byu.edu/default.aspx Media Clip: Military Families https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X6bK2ayZIBo&index=5&list=PLQJaFRtaBs0rzph8Dj7LgQJXeT4gPiBA9 Instructions 1.
