[U04a1] Unit 4 Assignment 1 Leadership Interview Overview One important way to learn about leadership is to learn from conversations with, and observations of, leaders. The focus of this course is understanding leadership from the human resource perspective. For this assignment, you have interviewed a human resource leader to complete the following: Learn about a HR leader’s role and the challenges and opportunities he or she faces as a leader and as a manager. Analyze the ways in which a leader influences and manages people and organizations. Incorporate ideas from a leadership interview into your personal understanding of leadership and illustrate with detailed examples. Assignment Instructions In 4?5 pages, write an introduction to describe the leader’s role, a summary of your interview questions and responses with a human resource leader, as well as your analysis. Include the following: Introduction In a brief paragraph, describe the leader’s role. Provide the context in which he or she leads and manages. This information should include job title, function, industry, organization name, or a description of the organization, and a very brief career biography. Interview Summary Explain the leader’s philosophy and approach for being an effective leader and strategic partner. Be sure your interview covers the following facets of leadership and management: Describe the challenges and opportunities of the interviewee as a human resource leader and manager. Describe the leader’s approach to influencing people and organizations. How do they approach being a strategic partner? Identify the leader’s advice for how to be an effective leader and manager. Analysis Analyze key interview findings that connect to your own leadership behavior and management approaches. What models and theories of leadership and management have you studied in this course that resonate with you after this interview? Cite sources to support your views. Assess your personal understanding of leadership and management. What did you learn from the interview that impacts your leadership development journey? ?
