The dissertation is intended to examine the relations between China and Mexico based on their economic connections. Particular attention should also be paid to the US, which currently holds close relationships with its southern partner. However, an extension of the presidency of Donald Trump could potentially lead to tensions with the left government of Mexico and its president Andrés Manuel López Obrador. For China, a closer partnership with Mexico would certainly be desirable – less by the natural resources and commodities, where other Latin American countries (Brazil, Peru…) are more important – but more due to the 3145 km long common border with the US.This paper is not intendet to give answers, but only be the research proposal!
