Explain on you own work the follow statement According to Gamble, ” Diversity is a result of both forces; it is the recognition and valuing of difference and encompasses such factors as age, gender, race, ethnicity, ability, religion, sexual orientation, and education”(p.239). My interpretation is that diversity is different people from all around the world that see thing differently, have differently beliefs and are from different backgrounds and color of skin. Some diversity trends that make adapting to multiple cultures important is that fact that now when you are in the work force you come across so many different cultures and races. Also, nowadays we communicate with different people around the world for information. For example, in medicine people face time or skype doctors from other countries to get medical help and advice. We are learning that we need the help of other countries and races for different things we cannot do it alone. In terms of businesses now successful businessmen and women are successful because they have partnerships with other countries like China and Japan. We all need to better learn to be respectful and learn how to effectively work with others. To be an effective leader it’s important to have open communicate with others. I need to be open to the fact that others do not see things from my own perspective. Take other people opinions into consideration especially in the work force. If others do not feel like their input is being considered they will not work well with me as a leader and others. Also, it’s important to learn what may be disrespectful to others so that no one feels that I am doing something maliciously.
