Students will explore a specific natural/manmade/humanitarian disaster event, either in the US or internationally. Students must evaluate both the cause and magnitude of the disaster chosen as well as how major societal institutions (such as health care, criminal justice, education, employment, voting, military) are impacted. 3. Students should include socioeconomic determinants of health as they relate to the values of groups/cultures affected by the disaster. 5. Next, students should analyze appropriate interventions to mitigate and prepare for this type of hazard in the future. 6.
