Does God exist?

Each student will craft one 2,000-word essay, due Friday, December 13, that presents a sustained philosophical argument on a topic of their choosing. Individual and group work in class over the semester will help each student draft and lay the groundwork for this paper, culminating in a polished final submission.

Here are some helpful steps to take while organizing and writing your paper:

1. Take the thesis you developed in your planning sheet from class. Compose an introduction that culminates in this thesis. This introduction should lay out your basic argument, including the central analysis you make, or your central claim about the comparison of two different concepts.

2. After your intro, lay out the cases or thought experiments you created in class to help explain or show some problems with the analysis in your thesis.

3. Close your paper by responding to these thought experiments, rebutting their objections, and clarifying the analysis in your thesis.
