Response papers allow you to engage with the ideas of others. Your purpose in writing a response paper is to critically examine what a particular text says and then to articulate your reaction to that text. In this case, respond to 1-2 of the poems found in the Emily Dickinson packet (or one youve found on your own from the website above). Your response should be three (3) paragraphs, covering: summary, analysis and your reaction. You can bring in details or quotes from other readings in your response. You may think of this assignment as an informal essay. *As an alternative to writing a response paper, you can get a little creative and write a poem inspired by Emily Dickinson. Discuss a poem by Dickinson and then your poem and how/why you thought to write what you have, what connections have you made to the poet, etc.! This replaces the above prompt.
