Assessment task requirements/details Differentiated Unit The aim of this task is to develop a differentiated unit that incorporates a range of pedagogical strategies to engage a range of diverse learners. (You may begin with an existing unit which lends itself to differentiation.) The design of the unit will demonstrate your teaching philosophy and theoretical understandings gained during the course. You will need to incorporate instructional and assessment practices that support the delivery of a differentiated curriculum, cater for individual differences and optimise student learning outcomes. Build your unit in three sections: Background; Planning and Lessons 1-4. In the background section of your unit , you will provide information on the school/classroom culture and you will also profile four exceptional students in your class. Background: School/classroom demographic Address the following specific aspects of the learning context: – a) Classroom climate and teacher expectations – b) Classroom management/ organisation protocols and expectations – c) Rituals and routines for small group collaborative learning/whole group instruction/personal learning – d) Computer-assisted instruction and technological supports where appropriate – e) Curriculum based assessment tasks and diagnostic techniques (specify curriculum model) – f) Instructional and communicative activities that establish a critical thinking and problem-solving culture Classroom Profile Determine the profile of your class of 23 students and include specific details about any four students from the following: A student who has: A physical disability, Autism, Experienced poverty/homelessness, Serious developmental delay (who has an aide), Social and emotional difficulties, Acquired Brain Injury, English as an additional language, Autism or high functioning autism Planning: In the planning section of Pebblepad you will get your ideas and resources ready for differentiation in the next section. Begin by selecting the relevant subject and level content descriptors (relevant to the needs of your class) from the Victorian Curriculum documents Provide a unit overview/outline and rationale. Identify the resources or further research that will be necessary. Make some broad notes on how the unit can be differentiated to suit all the learners in your class. Plan your diagnostic assessment early. Lessons 1-4: Your unit will comprise 4 x 45-60 min lessons. As a minimum each lesson will include the following: Introduction to the topic/skills/activities (Focus) Learning activities (. whole class and differentiation/ learning centres/groups) A wrap up activity/ session (summary, revision, relevance, link with next lesson) Assessment (diagnostic/formative/summative) Provide details of assessment tasks. I WILL PROVIDED A PDF FILE that tell you what needs o be step my step with examples provided.
