You will begin by reading the files in the Child-Study folder, which can be found in Course Documents/Syllabus. (in attachment is the rubric down below is the directions). THANK YOU!It is critical that you share the information, especially the directions and rubric, with your supervising teaching. If you are doing your field hours at a site where the children change daily, you move from room to room, or under any other unique circumstances, please contact me so we can discuss how you will do the study. ( make up the conversations starting from october 1, 2019)READINGS (please read each webpage before beginning your study)https://iris.peabody.vanderbilt.edu/wp-content/uploads/pdf_activities/independent/IA_Preschool_Classroom_Observation.pdfhttps://iris.peabody.vanderbilt.edu/wp-content/uploads/pdf_activities/independent/IA_Assessment_Childrens_Environments.pdfhttps://iris.peabody.vanderbilt.edu/wp-content/uploads/pdf_activities/independent/IA_Cognitive_Skills.pdfhttps://iris.peabody.vanderbilt.edu/wp-content/uploads/pdf_activities/independent/IA_Assessment_of_Play_Skills.pdfhttps://iris.peabody.vanderbilt.edu/wp-content/uploads/pdf_activities/independent/IA_Assessment_of_Social_Skills.pdfASSIGNMENT – Unit 4 (Due November 1, 2019): You must read the folder labeled Child-Study Project found under Course Documents/Syllabus, and share it with your supervisor)Conduct your observation according to the directions.Keep a journal each time you observe about what you notice. These notes will become a large part of your 10-page report.Design an activity to work with a student in need of individualized attention. You must have your supervisor’s approval to work with the student and approval of the activity.Write your paper. You must include a typed version of your journal in the paper. For example, you could say:Monday, September 30 from 12:30-2:30 p.m. – I observed Child A in the play area with two other children. She shared the toys and appeared to speak very politely with the other students. She did get frustrated when Child B decided to change what they were doing. You must turn in your journal with your paper. This is due no later than 11:55 p.m. on November 1, 2019.Please be very careful to do these four things:Read the directions and the rubric very, very carefully before beginning the observation. You must speak with your supervisor throughout this project.Keep a detailed journal from the very first conversation with your supervisor and throughout the observation. You will need this for your report. Your journal narrative will account for about 75 percent of your final report. You do not have to write down each thing you see or hear, but you do need to have enough details to show what you observed. You must observe the child for 20-30 hours. You must create an activity for the child based on what you have observed, do the activity with the child, and assess that child’s performance on the objective for that activity. Include this in your report.
