All students are required to have a portion of their field experience take place in a classroom with a diverse student population. This requirement must be fulfilled in an introductory course, such as those listed at the top of this document. Describe visits to three different education settings: a regular education classroom in a public school with inclusion; a special education setting within a public school (e.g., pullout, learning center, substantially separate classroom, or resource room); and a special education setting in a private special education school. On these reports, please remember to reflect. Do not just describe the setting or the teacher or the students, or the materials being used in the class. Spend some time talking about what is occurring, but spend more time commenting on things that occur, relating these things to concepts covered in this course. Reflections that directly connect observations to class readings, videos, class discussions, or the course learning activities.
