You are to create a profile (be creative) of either your city council member, mayor, or United States Representative. To find out who your United States Representative is visit http://www.house.gov (Links to an external site.); to find out who your mayor is visit: https://www.usmayors.org/mayors/ (Links to an external site.); and to find out who your city council member is simply conduct a Google search. After you have identified the elected official write a profile about them, details listed below. The profile for the United States Representative or city council member should include the following information: (1) biographyincluding when they were born, where they went to school, when were they first elected, how long have they been in office, and when are they up for re-election; (2) where are their local offices located (in Washington, DC and locally for representative); (3) what volunteer opportunities are available to assist your elected official; (4) if the elected officials office (local or in Washington, DC for representative) has any internship opportunities available for students. If so, what is the process to apply?; (5) what social media platforms is your elected official active on they on? (i.e. when was the last time they posted something on any of the platforms and responded to someone); (6) when and where is their next constituent event;(7) what major issue(s) they are advocating for; (8) whether or not they have introduced any legislation pertaining to these issues and where it is in the legislative process; (9) the last pieces of legislation they introduced and co-sponsor and where it is in the legislative process; (10) what committees do they sit on (if applicable); (11) which of issue(s) that your elected official advocates for resonates with you the most?; Why?; (12) do you think your elected official is doing a good job?; Why or Why not? Be specific; and (13) If an election was being held soon, would you vote for the elected official you profiled?; Why or why not? Be specific.
