Community Policing

Make sure that your paper has a title page, References page, and is formatted properly in APA.
Assessment Criteria:
Argue a position and address counterarguments ~ while the position you take on your topic is up to you, the assignment requires that you make an argument, which means you will establish the certainty or likelihood of a point, position, or claim through the presentation of appropriate evidence. You also must address the counterarguments in some way.

Address a specific audience ~ choose a specific audience for your paper. Remember that you can have multiple audiences (including the instructor and your peers), but focusing on a specific, clearly definable audience is often helpful.

Use different kinds of sources to back up your claims ~ you are required to use a minimum of five sources in this paper, with at least two scholarly sources. You must refer directly to all five sources in the paper and cite them. You can use sources from your Annotated Bibliography or video project, and/or you can find new sources if needed.

Conduct and refer to field research ~ you are required to conduct some kind of field research to contribute to your argument. This might include conducting an interview or interviews, developing a questionnaire, or conducting an observation. You can use the same field research you conducted for your video if it still applies, or you can conduct new research if you want different or new information.

Cite Sources in correct APA style and format the paper in APA style ~ refer to Ede or the Purdue OWL for citation help. We will be reading about and discussing correct APA style as well.

Determine the length of your paper by using rhetorical sensitivity ~ you may choose the length of your paper based on your purpose and audience. [Note: I suggest that you aim for 5-10 pages, double-spaced in 12 pt. font, 1-inch margins, not including a title page or References page. But this is only a suggestion. If you choose not to follow this suggestion, you should have reasons for doing so.]
