Fairy Tale Music Blog Post
Based on the chapters from Jane Yolens Touch Magic and Once Upon a Time by Joan Acoella, and your own thoughts and experiences, write a blog post (first-person, opinion is fine) expressing your thoughts about fairy tales. Like an academic paper, your blog post SHOULD have a clear thesis and a definite focus/point. However, the writing style can be more casual and personal. Your blog post must include ideas about fairy tale music, not just the stories. Note, do not write exclusively about the Ravel in this blog. You need to incorporate other fairy tale music (aim for 2 pieces). You may use pop music, art music, music from class, Disney, etc.
The blog can include hyperlinks to YouTube videos, images etc. but the writing itself must be 2-3 pages, without the links.
Possible ideas for a focal point gender in fairy tales as relates to modern culture, the value of fairy tales in the 21st century, how fairy tales have changed, your personal experience with fairy tales and how that speaks to a larger truth, are fairy tales dying? Are fairy tales important for society? The relationship between children and fairy tales etc. The ways in which fairy tale music has changed and what that says about society. Fairy tale music as related to Disney. Fairy tale music from different cultures. What is fairy tale music? Which came first, the fairy tale or the music that sounds like fairy tale music?
