In Writing Assignment #2, I want you to write about a particular area of public concern. You can choose the area of concern; it can be healthcare, education, criminal sentencing, immigration, infrastructure or anything similar.
Start by identifying a public issue. Make a critical argument why this is an area appropriate to be addressed by public policy. Use evidence to support your topic selection. Then, identify and effort in law to solve the public problem, or one aspect of the area you have identified. This effort can be at the federal, state or local level. Clearly identify the provisions of the enactment or policy. Then, explain/ analyze whether the public policy has successfully addressed the area of public concern. Make sure to identify measures of success and evidence gathered to evaluate success.
Your paper should be 3-5 pages. It should be typed, double spaced and well cited. It should be a combination of critical argument and scientific research. Please take time to thoughtfully lay out the pieces of have identified. Also, make sure you utilize evidence/ evaluations/ authority that would pass academic muster. (I mean evidence that wont make me say that is your source ? with heavy sarcasm.)
