Utilizing at least five outside scholarly sources students are to write critical essays documenting an essential issue(s) regarding course material and a film of their choosing (must choose from the list of films provided). Students may also include official and organizational research reports as part of their allotted references too. These essays are positional in nature (youre arguing a stance using scholarly evidence), and will be written in an academic and scholarly tone. Arguments must be cogent, logical, and supported by facts (which will come from ones research). APA citation and reference lists are required. These essays will be well proof-read before submission. Below are instructions regarding the formatting:
The assignment requires a traditional APA title page. Students may assign the essay its own title, be creative. The title page is not counted in the six to eight-page requirement.
The first page of the essay should begin with the title of ones assigned film as a heading. Following the heading write a comprehensive recap of the film. Explain the plot line and the relevant points (of ones choice) from the film that will be critiqued/explained in the following pages. See this section as an introduction. Moreover, engaging the reader here is important. Engage by explaining the scope of the issue(s) identified, and making use of stats and other relevant info to help explain the scope will be most helpful. It is ok if one goes over one page, but try to limit going over two pages. It is ok to go over the five page requirement due to references, students are encouraged to writedont limit oneself.
The proceeding pages should be well structured by sections. One may want to structure the proceeding pages by theory. This part of the essay will become more refined as one continue to engage in research and correlate his/her findings to points noted in the course text. Remember, all points/arguments explained in these pages must be cited and backed by evidence, and the analysis will include, among other sources, key points notated in the course text. Essentially students are meshing together the film, at least five outside scholarly sources, and the course text to write the essay.
The final pages of your essay will be your references which are to be done using APA.
