So far this semester we have engaged in both an unending conversation about rhetoric and an ongoing conversation about specific topics. In chapters one and two, you learned about important components of reading and writing. In your discussions, you have determined what Pinker argues in the first portion of his book Enlightenment Now and discussed what you think. Now you will take your initial thoughts expressed in your discussion posts and turn them into an essay. For your first writing assignment, address the following prompt:Analyze and respond to Steven Pinker’s opening argument in the first part of the book. Identify his main idea (thesis) and main supporting points and write an effective summary of his initial argument. Follow this with what you think. Explain whether or not he has a strong argument and why. Be sure use evidence from both Pinker’s book and some research to support your points.Your essay should not only include a summary but should also acknowledge the strengths and weaknesses of the book based on what you think. Make sure to organize your paragraphs appropriately (make a scratch outline if necessary) and provide evidence from the text. Any specific information used from your sources should be documented both in-text and on a works cited page. The paper should be approximately 1200 words and MLA format.
