Turabian style TOPIC/Research question: To compare the adoption rate of electronic health record, its facilitators and its barriers among medical and dental professionals. or What are the facilitators and barriers of electronic health record among medical and dental professionals? HYPOTHESIS: Dental professionals trail behind in adoption of electronic health record system Introduction: (1page): Include these essential items for writing an effective introduction. -Attention getting paragraph appropriate for your professional audience -A clear justification and background for studying this topic (e.g. why is it important?) -An overview of how the literature directs you to study this topic (e.g. there is a gap in the literature, disagreement about conclusions, an isolated fact that has not been explained, there is no study of the topic.) -A short preview of what the reader should expect in the coming sections of the paper. Purpose statement (1 paragraph): -Write a statement of purpose of your study indicating why you chose this particular study. This should be based on the background provided in the introduction. -Concluding with your research question. Literature Review (4 pages, including 8-10 high quality, peer-reviewed sources) -Write a complete literature review. -Introduce the reader to your topic and a short overview of what they will read in the literature review. This also includes a brief overview of the literature. The body of the literature review develops an understanding and insight about previous research and trends in the topic area related to your research question. Aim to corroborate research-based evidence by more than one author. The literature review is not an itemized summary of the research you collected. The literature review is typically thematically organized based on your research question and purpose. -Concluding with a clear statement of the problem and your hypothesis. Remind the reader of your purpose. Method: The method section must be detailed enough for another researcher to replicate your study. Only correlational field study or case study designs may be used for this proposal. Include a description of the participants, the instrument you would use for data collection (if you are using a survey or interview, 5-6 questions are adequate but you may certainly include more if your proposal warrants it), and the step-by-step procedures you would use. If you are using a case study, include reference to specific observations that will be made, documents to be reviewed, and the rationale for using this method (the how and why as in the text Chapter 4). The data collection instrument should be embedded directly in this section (and may be single spaced), even though generally in full research articles these appear in appendices. Include reference to potential validity and reliability issues. Also include reference to human subjects protection issues. Results: -Add a section describing your anticipated results in general terms. Even though most research articles are written in past tense because they are describing events that have already happened, please retain future tense for this final paper because it is still a proposal. – Include a general description of the anticipated results if the study were to be implemented, linking back to the hypothesis(es), implications of the findings, and the potential users of the information. There is no need to generate/make up either quantitative or qualitative data for this purpose. In addition, this description does not need to include all of the various possible explanations of potential results, i.e a description of outliers, non-respondents or other extraneous information.
