In the article, Death by Monoculture, Stephan Pax Leonard argues that the disappearance of minority language and culture is due to globalization. He stresses that because every culture and language carries an indispensable meaning for a certain group of people, individuals should concern the negative influence of Monoculturalism which is promoted by globalization. Nevertheless, Jeffrey N. Wasserstrom, the author of A Mickey Mouse Approach to Globalization, would hold an opposite perspective on this argument. In his essay, Wasserstrom argues that globalization is not the same as Americanization because people from place to place have different cultural backgrounds and this leads to have various kinds of interpretation and understanding on one identical product. That is to say, individuals do not need to worry because the world will not end up in monoculture as it is becoming more globalized. Considering the two authors arguments, we are left with the question that whether globalization is causing the appearance of monoculture.
