Content Requirements
Your Week 5 Reflection Journal response should include your reaction, reflection and application of the assigned readings for this week. You may uncover your own prejudices, bias or thought processes of which you may not have been previously aware. Make sure to notice any topics or issues that make you uncomfortable or evoke strong emotion (such as anger, anxiety, sadness, etc). Take the time to really analyze these topics and your reactions as there may be a past experience or hidden belief you will need to work through.
Your Reflection Journal for Week 5 should cover the material presented in your assigned reading. Begin your Week 5 entry with the date and then include the following:
Your initial reactions to the textbook material either positive or negative
Anything in the material that caught you by surprise
Your reaction to the case studies presented in each assigned chapter
How the material applies to American culture, the media and/or the world at large
Reflection of how the material will change how you relate to others within our culture
The biggest take away for the week and how you will apply this realization to your own life
How you will be able to better relate to and help others with the new information
You will be awarded completion points that account for the content of your Reflection Journal submission. Your Journal should include at least one to two typed pages and include thorough responses to the criteria outlined above. Your Journal will remain confidential and will not be shared with others.
