Utilitarian and deontological ethics

The aim of this assignment is for students’ to demonstrate an understanding of basic differences between the two theories of normative ethics we have discussed so far. To that end, students will consider a situation in light of these different approaches. Consider a moral question (of your choosing) in relation to these two ways of conceiving what constitutes right and wrong action. In choosing an example, consider cases that will best allow you to show your understanding of the two theories. (It is probably best to choose something in which the different theories seem to give different answers, or at least in which you can clearly explain why the reasons for the answers are different.)
