How can we categorize and label our profession if we do not all have some personal and professional characteristics or competencies in common?

OverviewWhat do you think? Though it is a very common phrase associated with nursing, many of you might be unfamiliar with the phrase “A nurse is a nurse is a nurse.” It is the succinct way in which interested individuals present the belief that if a person is an RN then that person is like every other RN; that all RNs are equally educated and capable; and that all RNs should be able to do the work of any RN in any specialty area. This assumption is what makes it perfectly fine for employers to believe they can place a diploma- or ADN-prepared nurse in a job that requires a BSN- or master’s-prepared nurse; that justifies scheduling all new grads on any one shift; and/or which makes it okay in the mind of management to float any nurse to any unit. After all, “a nurse is a nurse is a nurse.” Now, we can all see the problem with the blanket assumption that every nurse is like every other nurse, however, to some degree it is true, isn’t it? Or shouldn’t it be? How can we categorize and label our profession if we do not all have some personal and professional characteristics or competencies in common?Your assignment is to make a list of arguments that support the belief that a “Nurse is a nurse is a nurse” and a list of arguments that debunk this phrase.StepsPart IMake a list of arguments that support the statement, “A nurse is a nurse is a nurse.” That is, develop a list of characteristics common to all types of nursing.Next, make a list of arguments that contradict the statement. That is, develop a list of conditions that make our practices different from one another. You should be able to develop these lists from study of the content for this week and previous ones; from what you personally know about nursing; and from the nursing literature. If you use outside resources, be sure to cite and reference them.Post your lists to the Course Discussion Board: A Nurse is a Nurse is a Nurse. In addition, submit your assignment to the Dropbox, Week 3: A Nurse is a Nurse is a Nurse.Remember, even though this assignment results in a set of lists, it still must be thoughtful, clearly written, and properly cited. Remember, you are making a list of arguments for and against, so each item on the list will probably be a sentence or two, not just a word or two.The paper should have an APA title page, a brief introduction paragraph, the body of the paper (which will be the lists), a brief concluding paragraph, and any citations or references in APA format. This paper will probably be about 1 ½ -2 pages long (don’t go over 2 pages).I am attaching a few resources you can use but please include at least one to two others. Thanks
