Students will write an analytical report about their assigned topic. Each pair will submit a single, co-authored report. The report should address the following questions:
1. What is the practice? What does it mean? How does it work? How do you do it?
2. What is known about the practice? Summarize existing research. Refer to 20 or more references, at least 10 of which should be references to peer-reviewed academic journals or conferences.
3. What are the ostensible benefits of the practice? What benefits or drawbacks have been established by rigorous research?
4. Critically reflect on the limitations, ethics and potential harms of the practice.
5. Recommendations regarding:
(a) under what circumstances the practice should be used;
(b)how to get maximum benefits from it.
The report should be written following the submission guidelines of the 2019 International Conference on Software Engineering. Use the IEEE template (available for LaTeX or word). Students are encouraged to use LaTeX (specifically, Overleaf). LaTEX users must usedocumentclass[10pt,conference]{IEEEtran}without including the compsoc or compsocconf option). The report is limited to five pages including images and references. Do NOT mess with the template to either to fit in more content or to make content take up more space. Template shenanigans will be penalized harshly. The report should include at least one diagram and at least one table created by you from a blank page (not borrowed or adapted from a source).
