Teaching Thinking with Development Education Students. What role can Experiential Learning Activities play? Enhancing developmental students’ thinking skills may not be an easy task. Further, student progress with this skill is not likely without specific activities that encourage students to “develop habits of reflection about their experiences, their successes and failures, their plans and purposes, and their choices and consequences” (McKeachie & Svinicki, 2011, P. 314). College instructors must carefully plan lessons that incorporate activities that foster reflection and effective thinking. After reading Chapters 15 and 21 and the supplemental readings on experiential learning, discuss how you might encourage developmental students to think more effectively. How would your course be structured? What role would experiential learning activities play? Submit your response in a well organized 500-750 word essay (MS Word, 12-point font, Times New Roman, preferred.)
