Turning our attention ever more eastward, we discussed the spread of Islam across the Middle East and into the Asian subcontinent. We also saw the development of civilization in the Indus Valley that would lead to the establishment of Vedic religions like Hinduism and then Buddhism. Discuss the lasting impact these cultures and religions had on in South and Southeast Asia. How did they reinforce the hegemony of the caste system or rebel against it?
