Description & Expectations: You will write a focused research paper about a global aspect of a social problem that we cover in the first half of the course. For example, we will discuss racial profiling and mass incarceration, so you might write a paper on one of these topics occurring in Haiti or in Poland or some other country. Or, we are covering gendered wage gaps and violence against women. You might write a paper on issues of gender inequality in Argentina or Japan. You will use course insights and concepts, but discuss a focused aspect of a social problem in a particular country other than the United States. Make sure to cite any websites or texts you use (and quote appropriately) and create a bibliography. While all your outside sources need not be scholarly (e.g. peer reviewed journals, academic monographs, etc.), you must use at least one scholarly source that you locate on your own outside of the course readings for this assignment.
